Day 2: Part 1

So last night we stopped at a Walmart in Gallup, New Mexico to sleep. We parked right next to all the sleeping semi truck drivers. It was freezing there! There was ice and snow everywhere. So Buck took the front seat and I took the back seat. The pillows got lost somewhere in the packing, so we used towels. :) Then we were each wrapped in three blankets. But not much sleep took place because we were freezing, uncomfortable, and the parking lot lights were way too bright. So Buck woke up and just started driving. I slept. Then later he stopped at a rest stop and went back to sleep. Then when the sun came up I drove and Buck slept. Anyway... after my momma heard how uncomfortable we were, my parents bought us a hotel room for tonight. THANK YOU MOM and DAD!!!! We are very appreciative!

We left New Mexico early this morning. Then we drove straight through the top of Texas. In Shamrock, Tx we had two separate couples ask if we still had free puppies available (because of the painted van window)! It was snowing in Amarillo and it has been freezing cold in every city since. We haven't seen any sunshine either. It's been dark and cloudy all day.

It didn't take us long to be blazing through Oklahoma. I never realized how red the dirt is here in OK. I won't let bluebell out in it afraid she will start to dig and dye her fur that dark red/purple soil color. The first traffic we hit was in Oklahoma City. I learned that Oklahoma has the hometown to Garth Brooks, Carrie Underwood, Rodger Miller, and an astronaut Thomas P. Stafford. :)

Also, the gas is much cheaper out here! $2.89/ gallon :)
